That movie is 16 years old?! But yeah - what a great and underrated movie.
I think Hans Zimmer is better than most the other guys. On average, I like his music better than John Williams. John Williams seems to have some more iconic tunes such as Indiana Jones and the imperial march, but Zimmer's sounds better, IMO.

Then he made every single one of his songs sound the same. If you don't believe me, listen to the Gladiator soundtrack and then listen to the first Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack.

Uuh.. lot of his best stuff was done after Gladiator and sounds completely different. Some random examples I can think of off the top of my head: Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, The Da Vinci Code, Inception, Interstellar.
His work on Interstellar was such a key part to that movie. The movie would not have been as good without it, to an extent that I haven't seen in a movie in a long long time.
The 13th Warrior is a great flick.

He did the same thing with The Rock soundtrack. I love Hans Zimmer though, that's not a complaint!
Interstellar and Crimson Tide are my two favorites from Zimmer.

You know that Jerry Goldsmith did the 13th Warrior, not Zimmer, right? I mean it even says it in the background of the video you posted.

That may be true, but when you download it or purchase the cd, it is called the "original motion picture soundtrack" not the "original motion picture score".

The score is part if the soundtrack. What the OP is referring to in his post is the score not the soundtrack. In a movie like that, they are one in the same. But take a movie like Forrest Gump. It has an amazing soundtrack. The score is amazing too.
I used to show 13th Warrior to my classes after reading Beowulf.

It's based on a Crichton novel, isn't it? Similar to Beowulf though.
On a related note, my JR English teacher in HS was a stage performer and would read us Beowulf in Old English. When read aloud, you could understand it, but he showed us his copy in print and it was indecipherable (to me).
My high school English teacher was fluent in old English and did the same thing.

Yes. 13th Warrior based on Eaters of the Dead which was based on Beowulf.
I took a Chaucer class at A&M. Had to memorize old english. Fun stuff. I am so bad at memorizing stuff, once I have it, it is there forever.
