Houston - where slower traffic keeps left and the right lane is for passing only.

it's amazing how many people don't use cruise control, it's like they're texting or on the phone then suddenly they can speed up again, and then you pass them again, then they speed up to try and pass again, pisses me off to no end, that and the people hanging out in the left lane just chilling, do me a favor and get over, the left lane is not for hanging out and playing bingo; let me pass then get back over and piss off the next guy.

Open highway. Person enters on an on ramp, immediately cuts across three lanes and camps out in the left lane. At 60. For absolutely no reason.

I'm courteous and get over for people going faster whenever I can because I expect the same treatment from those going slower than me.

But if someone flashes their lights at me, that's it. They can kiss my ***. It's rude as hell. I won't slow down, but I'm not speeding up either to get out of their way. They can wait until I finish passing slower cars.

Courtesy goes a long way. If I see somebody behind me that's going faster but doesn't get right on my bumper, I'll speed up to get out of their way. But if they ride my bumper or flash their lights... then they better enjoy looking at my tailgate for awhile.

Actually, it's common practice and considered a courtesy in Europe to let people know you're driving faster than them and should move over. If you ignore it, you're going to get a Veron up your butt at 200mph.

Or the ones who pass the first in a line of trucks, yet will not pull into the right lane because they plan to pass truck #2 eventually, even though it is a half mile away. I don't drive slow, and I use the right lane unless I'm passing.

That said, once in a blue moon folks will ride my bumper or flash their lights while I'm in the left lane passing others in the right. They're just extremely impatient and rude. I don't reward their bad behavior by speeding up. I'm also not a jerk and don't deliberately slow down. They can just deal with it until I can get over without being rude to others.

The point in all this is their rude behavior backfires on them. If they're courteous, I'll extend the same consideration and temporarily speed up to get out of their way.

I hear ya. Different norms in different places. Texas is the only place I've seen where people will pull over on the shoulder on a rural two lane highway to let you pass. Not as common as it once was, but I still see it every now and then.

People...the ENTIRE ****ING PURPOSE for the entrance ramp is for you to get up to highway speeds PRIOR TO entering the highway. This is NOT a difficult concept. Learn it and embrace it.

Basically you're charging people to drive 30 miles an hour at best. Maybe you should have looked at every other toll road in existence and realized that the supposed benefit of a toll road is having limited entrance and exit ramps and multiple lanes for driving. Go jump in a lake.
