He worked in the north. For CP Rail and then he worked in Colorado and eventually Texas. Lots of Sante Fe stuff and lots of UP stuff.

Got any pics of train stuff? I'm stupid with trains too.

The romantic glow pumpjack lights, coupled with the boredom of several droughts in the early 80's can pretty much be thanked for the existence of everyone I grew up with.

Yes! Luckily my dad moved us to Austin when I was in 1st grade, before I could get sucked into the boredom that is Odessa. I'm sure if I stayed there any longer I would have at least 3 kids in middle school by now and probably one divorce under my belt.

Not Midland/Odessa. I consider that to be Big Spring. Way less classy

A lot of the areas on the layout are still a work in progress. Here's a dry creek bed I've got mostly done.

From my experiences in north TX,

1) You need a dirt road that goes between the tanks and pump, and around the pump

2) Looks like you've got the pump sitting straight on gravel, put a brown/black stained block underneath it to simulate the concrete pad it should be on. Put a bunch of chips in it if you're looking for the "antiquated" look.

3) You don't have a separator. Oil goes from the pump to the separator, then the tanks

4) There should be a common line/header between the low ports of the tanks for emptying.

5) Technically, there should be a dike around the tanks to prevent oil spills from spreading. Older pumps probably don't have that.

I'm trying to model West Texas in an N scale model railroad layout. I designed the pumpjack and tanks with cad and then had them 3D printed. Panted myself. Does it look ok so far? What should I add? Going for a rundown well pad in this area.

Did you just submit an EHS&S action item on a model train?
