I would however rank the base liquor this way:

1. Bourbon
1a. Scotch
2. Tequila
3. Vodka
4. Moonshine
5. all others

I'll pick beer or whiskey neat over a mixed drink nine times out of ten, but mojitos and g&ts are my go to choices

What I am making is not technically moonshine but flavored Everclear.

True White Lightning takes some getting used to!

I was NOT a drinker at all in high school

My very first Saturday at A & M, before I even had my first class as a college student, I went to a party at Puryear.

We walked in the dorm and they asked if we wanted beer or punch. Having not been a beer fan, I opted for the punch.

Everclear! This was soon followed by cheap pink champagne.

Holy crap. I barely made it to my first class on Monday.

I'd squeeze rum in between tequila and vodka, but otherwise good list.

Manhattan with Makers in a old fashioned glass (i hate the martini glasses) is my standard drink. I like old fashions but I dislike the fruit pulp

I love dirty vodka martinis, I have a shaker and use it when I make them, makes them colder.

Cuba Libre

Cuba libres are another favorite of mine. I make them with rum and soda with a splash of coke and a lime.

Shaken martini ruins the delicate citrus/herbal scents and tastes. Ya know, the stuff that makes a martini...good.

And for the record:

Martini = 2 measures of dry gin, 1 measure of (fresh, prefer Dolin) dry vermouth, 2 dashes of orange bitters, stirred over the rocks, strained into a glass and garnished with a lemon rind. Anyone that tries to put a cocktail onion in your martini is making you a Gibson. Anyone that tries to put an olive in your martini is probably hinting that you have no taste buds.
