Donkey ain't skeered of no Major League debut!!!

He has kept his eyes tightly shut and struck out twice, raising his whiffing percentage to an otherworldly .583!!!

Third at-bat in process!!

Hey man, don't be hating!!!

Donkey hit a fly ball to the outfield in the 9th, and led the Gnats to a glorious 3-1 victory over the loathsome Florida Fish.

They are only three games out of a wildcard spot! Don't mess with greatness!!!

Also, don't forget that Donkey is protecting Gnats' right fielder, Eddie Rosario, who is dangerously close to falling under half of the Mendoza line. The Donk is a great teammate. He doesn't want to make anyone feel unequal.

The hit pieces are coming out. Some people think it's something called a "statistical anomie" that Jeff Samarkand has 1 more sac fly than Gallo despite 3000 less at bats, and being at a position that is no longer allowed to bat.

You can't steal second base with your foot on first, and you can't fight city hall.

With his heroics last night, Donkey passed two Hall of Famers (Roberto Clemente and Larry Walker) on the all time list.

He now has two others squarely in his sights, needing only a Golden Sombrero to pass Mr. Cub, Ernie Banks, and tie Duke Snider.

Banks required a ludicrous 10,396 at bats to strike out 1236 times, whereas Joey is at 1233 after only 3234 attempts.

Banks did pick it up a little as he aged, making it to 101 strikeouts in his age 39 season, but overall it was a highly disappointing performance.

A little extra donkey sauce

When the count if 0-2 this year, he is a perfect 6-6 on striking out.
When it's 1-2, he has struck out 7 times in 9 at-bats
When it's 2-2, 16 times in 18 at-bats.
When it's 3-2, 14 strikeouts in 19 at-bats.

So when Joey has 2 strikes and swings at the next pitch, he is 4 for 52 with 43 strikeouts.
So if a pitcher gets 2 strikes on him and he swings at the next pitch, he's going to strike out 82.7% of the time.

As you can see, Martinez is crying at the start of this clip having lost his Donkey.

Here's a great clip of Joey from 3 years ago being pissed about the pictures of him on a video game.

AMERICA HELD HOSTAGE DAY #2: THE NIGHTMARE CONTINUES

After Joey was condemned to the IL with a mysterious ailment that would have made Vladimir Putin blush, the Gnats fought back against the Florida Fish in a tribute to their fallen leader, with a Fightin' Texas Aggie baseball-esque 12-9 win after facing a 7-0 deficit.

Unfortunately, the Triple A pug who is stealing Donkey's spot in right field, Alex "Lauren Ba" Call went 2 for 2 with 2 walks and three runs scored, which many moronic MLB "insiders" think is good.

Thankfully, Joey's useless nemesis Joey Menses somehow contrived to go 0 for SIX with ZERO strikeouts, which I'm not sure how is even possible.

Give the kids what they want!

They want STRIKEOUTS! They want FREE RANGE DONKEY!!!

This lowlife, who is apparently plotting to start the COVID-24 pandemic in the Twins clubhouse, is what Donkey had to deal with last year.

There is no doubt that Rockhead is an integral part of the conspiracy to keep the good Donkey down!!!

The good news. Joey is still 6th in strikeouts at 43 despite playing in a while.
The bad news is that Kyle Schwarber has taken over the ML lead, and he's a 2-time 200 strikeout guy. He'lll be tough to catch, but I believe in Joey Gallo. Schwarber is on pace for 241 right now.

At least there is one franchise left in professional baseball that understands that strikeouts put butts in seats.

Donkey is batting second and doing great.

Unfortunately his first at bat ended in a groundout to third; Donkey must have really needed to shake the rust off if he's hitting the ball the other way.

Happily he came right back with a big K swinging in his next plate appearance.

The young ladies of Fredericksburg were observed to faint in a manner reminiscent of Beatlemania as the Donk's bat shattered the air.

Tough day for the Donk today, as he went 1 for 3 with a walk, a HR, and no strikeouts.

Reached for comment after the game, Joey had this to say:

"I don't know what's wrong, man. The bendy pitches these kids throw at this level, they're, like, not bendy enough.

Like the one I accidentally hit into the seats in the seventh. If that had just bended, like, four inches more it's an easy K for the pitcher.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to treating the whole team to the buffet at Cici's Pizza after we get out of here. They're great kids, and they deserve it."

King Donkey is back in the lineup for the Nats on Thursday!

Gallo (quad) is starting at designated hitter and batting cleanup for the Nationals on Thursday versus the Mets, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Gallo hasn't played in a little over a week due to a sore quad, but he's feeling well enough to at least hit Thursday. It's not clear when he might be ready to play the field. Gallo is 1-for-7 with a couple RBI so far at the plate so far this spring. He'll be used in left field, at first base and at DH for the Nats this season.

Giancarlo Stanton has tied Tony Perez for 17h on the all-time strikeout list at 1,867.

It took Perez 10,681 plate appearances to get this far. Stanton only needed 6,572.

If Stanton can stay healthy, he could get to 2,000 this year, something only 7 others have done.

He's 15 behind Fred McGriff for 16th, 16 behind Mike Schmidt for 15th, and 36 behind the unlikely Mike Cameron for 14th. He only needs 69 more (nice) to tie Willie Stargell for 10th place.

Washington Nationals outfielder/designated hitter Joey Gallo (shoulder) is feeling good in his rehab with Triple-A Rochester. Nationals skipper Davey Martinez provided an update on the slugger on Friday after Gallo enjoyed a big night at the plate on Thursday. "He hit a home run and a double. He's starting to swing the bat a little bit better," Martinez said. "They said he feels good. Just like everybody else, he's trying to get his timing back." It's been a tough start for Gallo to begin his Nationals tenure as he hit just .122 with three homers and a .597 OPS across 91 trips to the plate before he hit the injured list with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder on April 26.

A new face in the strikeout race - Cincinnati's Will Benson has surged up to second place with 56 strikeouts in 37 games. He is a 6 foot 5, 230 pound left-handed 25-year-old centerfielder with a .220 average and a .683 OPS. He's already got 5 hat tricks this year.

With Kyle Schwarber suffering some back tightness, this young pup has a chance to take the lead in the next few days. Schwarber is holding at 59.

Joey has drifted down to a tie for 25th at 43 Ks. I hate seeing him suffer like this.

Meanwhile, we've got Paul Goldschmidt making headlines for his suddenly endless flailing. He is currently hitting .190 with 51 strikeouts in 37 games for the Cardinals. He's only struck out more than 100 times twice in his career, and those were both in the mid-2010s when he was a perennial MVP candidate for the D-backs. Lately he's been stung by the same mutant alien spore that infected Jose Abreu earlier in the year. Goldschmidt is 0-for-May (0-for-32) with 14 strikeouts.

The strikeout binge has moved him up to tied for #28 all-time with Bobby Bonds, the former single-season record holder (189).

A small amount of good news, but with an ominous undertone.

Joey Gallo News (rotowire.com)

Quote:

While the Nationals are expected to have Gallo available later this week, it's uncertain how much he will play once activated.

I know how much Donkey better play once activated, and that amount is a lot.

In fact, I think that the Gnats should petition the commissioner's office for a special dispensation so Joey can be in the lineup twice every game.
