My dad says our setters are "trained killers," and we're not supposed to be nice to them....obviously he doesn't always do what he says

When June first started hunting she had a problem with eating the quail, but she's got it figured out now.

Insightful. Care to expand on that thought?

Our first dog, Dagny. Some sort of cattle dog/shepherd/mutt mix that came in as a stray at our local humane society. She's been a lot of fun. Pics are from her boarding place where she loves to play with the rest of the inmates.

My brother has a cattle dog mix whose ear flopped down on one side just recently. Vet said it was cartilage damage. Was yours always one ear up, one down?

Finally a good pick of the younger dog. I can never get a good pick except when she is sleeping. My 2 yr old son took this with my wife's phone.

He's a mutt. No clue what else he has besides golden, but I can confirm he is definitely a sweetheart.

We've had her about 5 months and she's always been that way. She'll pick up that ear on occasion when alerted to something, but it is usually floppy. I wish we knew her history and heritage.

I heard when I got my Shepard pup that if you play with their ears too much they will lie down. I did anyways and they still stand up. I think it's cute when the flop

Sam has already had a long day. She is tired from barking at the exterminator for an hour this morning.

The old girl Roo, about 30 minutes before she took her final rest. Been two months and I still miss her like crazy.

If that means what I think it means, I'm so sorry.

For some reason, I find this quote oddly comforting:

Of Dogs and Men

"It would have been better if men and dogs grew from boyhood and puppyhood together, and in so doing pass on together. However, nature is not so ordered. So long as there are dogs and men, dogs will die and men will weep for them." - Burton Spiller

Had to say goodbye to this old girl on Monday. 12.5 years of great friendship.

Breaking the house rules.

Relaxing on her last day.

One last sunset.

Thanks. I'm sad, but it's comforting to know she's running on new hips and a healthy body now and that I'll see her again someday.

I'm so sorry. If I've said it once, I've said it 1,000 times...pet death sucks.
