The rivalry will be sold to put butts in the seat and eyeballs on the screen. They'll come up with stories about players that hate the other team. But it will be much harder to find those players because NIL has players playing for money and not for school pride. It'll be just another game to the players.
That being said, it may not be a bad thing. Hopefully the focus is on championships and not just beating tu.
I hope just hope our fan base doesn't go backwards where all we cared about was tu. We are a national program, act like it.
Have you not seen how much mich/tosu only care about that game yet are still competing for championships? There's no reason both can't be a thing.
I'm sure the goal was to win the SWC/Big12 every year, but we just weren't very good for a big portion of our history, so you had to take what you could get. Beating Texas didn't make it a good season, but it definitely took the sting off.
