bigtruck - that's what the three former players I talked to said. This season is on the players. Nobody stepped up.

Agree with him 100% and I think this has been an issue thats bubbled up here numerous times over the past 15 years. We'll have a team put up a quality season and have key players returning, but its like they think success the next year is going to come easy and be handed to them. Then when they get punched in the mouth by adversity, they fold. We dont have any leaders step up to pull the team together. Instead, disappointment sets in and guys start chasing their own individual agendas.

The players have to take a lot of the blame surely. But you have to put the responsibility on the coaches for not having the proper adjustments when needed. The failures were too consistent and predictable.

Adjustments can only go so far though if you have players that panic and press in the face of adversity. Tannehill was terribly prone to it. The more life the opponent showed, the more haywire he seemed to go and the situation would get out of hand. Only takes a couple of bad possessions to turn a game on its head. Needed a mentally tough leader to rally his team and calmly make the right reads to help us respond. We usually didnt get that. Instead, Tannehill looked like a basketcase out there staring down covered wr's, and ignoring or missing open ones.

How much of that is Tannehill and how much is coaching? Was it a classic case of "over coaching"...IE "Don't do this or that"....And in 2010 he left JJ in WAY beyond when it was obvious there was something wrong with his shoulder (and he was trying to force throws as well - do we see a trend here).

How many times this fall was Sherman calling pass plays when they should have been running? And how in the hell does your Senior QB not know to STAY IN BOUNDS at the end of the tu game to keep the clock running on 3rd down when you're not going to get the 1st?

Great interview. He was a great player.

Tpw, Since he made mistakes himself, he can't identify mistakes/weaknesses of others. Is that what you're saying?
