Around Aggieland: September 25th, 2015
Soccer
- The Aggies helped raise over $13,000 in their partnership with the Go Gold Fund for pediatric cancer.
- No. 4 Texas A&M fell to No.17 South Carolina 2-1 LAST NIGHT in Colombia.
- Freshman Ally Watt scored her first career goal in the 10th minute.
- Taylor Saucier had 4 saves in the first half keeping the Gamecocks off the scoreboard.
- The Gamecocks sealed the deal with a goal in the 89th minute.
- The loss makes the Aggies 9-2-0
- Texas A&M will travel to Athens on Sunday for a 12:00 PM match against the Georgia Bulldogs.
Volleyball
- After a week of rest, A&M will open up their SEC season in College Station against the Arkansas Razorbacks on SUNDAY.
- Match will begin at 1:30 PM at Reed Arena.
- Lots of promotions for Sunday:
- It will be First Responder Day which means all local police officers, firefighters and EMS will get in free
- Will also be Sunday Funday which means if you buy one adult ticket you can get up to 4 kids in free.
- AND to celebrate National Pancake Day they will have pancake wrapped sausage at concessions.
Equestrian
- No.7 A&M opens up their season on the road TODAY where they will face the defending SEC Champions No.1 Georgia Bulldogs.
- Meet began at 9:00 AM.
Cross Country
- The team will host the Texas A&M Invitational Saturday on the Dale Watts Cross Country course.
- The men will race over 8,000 meters beginning at 8:15 AM.
- The women will race 6,000 meters beginning at 9:00 AM.
- Two SEC schools will be competing including LSU and Missouri.
Men’s Tennis
- The Aggies host the 2015 Conference Challenge this weekend at the George P Mitchell Tennis Center.
- Competing in the tournament is Illinois, Texas Tech and Harvard.
- Competition will begin THIS MORNING with doubles matches at 10:00AM and 11:00AM.
- After doubles, the singles matches will begin at 2:00PM.
- Saturday will be a day of singles matches beginning at 10:00AM followed by a 2:00PM round.
- Sunday will conclude the tournament with doubles at 9:00AM and singles at 10:00AM
Women’s Basketball
- Sophomore Jasmine Lumpkin, a 6-0 forward has been granted eligibility to play by the NCAA
- Former players Achiri Ade and Adaora Elonu will be participating in the 2015 FIBA African Championship which began yesterday and will wrap up October 3rd.
- Ade will play for Cameroon and Elonu will play for Nigeria
