Ricky Seals-Jones to fight disorderly conduct charges

The attorney for Texas A&M freshman wide receiver Ricky Seals-Jones told TexAgs on Sunday evening that Seals-Jones would fight disorderly conduct charges that were filed against him early Sunday morning.
 
"Ricky Seals-Jones is absolutely fighting these charges," Attorney Cameron Reynolds said in a press release given to TexAgs. "He had nothing to drink and was at home when a friend called him to come to Northgate to give him a ride home. Ricky went to Northgate to help his friend toward the car when someone struck him.
 
"When Ricky turned toward him that person cursed him and called Ricky the 'N' word. Words were exchanged and Ricky was arrested. The other individual was not arrested.
 
"I have personally spoken with an independent witness who confirms these facts. Ricky volunteered to take a breath test since he had not consumed alcohol, but this request was never granted."

Before we break out the jump to conclusions mats lets list what we know.
1. RSJ was arrested for language
2. RSJ claims he was picking up a friend when he was struck by a person who is not identified in anyway
3. RSJ claims he was called the N word.

What we don't know from his statement:
1. The race of his alleged attacker.
2. The size of his alleged attacker.
3. What he said to alleged attacker.
4. What CSPD witnessed.

I am no fan of CSPD and have stated so many times on Texags. With that said the are some conclusions being made that aren't supported by the released statement.

Did it say anywhere that the other person is white? I'm not doubting racism, but I hear that word from black people WAY more than from white people. Hold off on making any assumptions on any of it.

I'm just hoping that justice is served and also hoping that happens to align with A&M football getting better!

I called the psychic friends hotline, and they were NO help at all. Although, they did say I was going to come into some money, and this week is a payday week. Spooky!

(Edit to add the obvious [in my mind] sarcasm alert. RSJ has every right to defend himself against charges. IMO, speculation is just as useful as getting advise from a psychic. I.e. Not very helpful. )

Even the facts as stated by the cops don't explain why RSJ was ARRESTED (not ticketed) and the other guy got off Scott free.

I wanted to question this but was pretty sure I was getting trolled... no chance someone is going to try to relate/sympathise racial slurs to the "negative" stereotypes redheads face.

CSPD. Gotta love it!

What we don't know from his statement:
1. The race of his alleged attacker. - Does it matter?
2. The size of his alleged attacker. - Really doesn't matter
3. What he said to alleged attacker. - I can't imagine anything was said with a CSPD officer close enough to actually distinguish WHO said it
4. What CSPD witnessed. - Bike cop (Just guessing)

Maybe the police have already helped by charging for "noise" or "language" instead of some higher charge availae to them? I'd like to see the facts versus the allegations.

Don't know what happened, but a good officer would try to diffuse the situation. Try to get all parties to go home, so as not to arrest anyone. Hopefully that is what the CSPD officers are instructed to do with all students.

Good for Ricky SJ!

For decades now, an all too important part of the College Station Police Department has been to stalk and intimidate 19 year olds students. I know that was certainly the case when I attended Texas A&M in the early 90's.

There is something fundamentally wrong when, before going to Bryan-College Station, you are told to be on the look-out for the CSPD at all times and to try and avoid them at all costs!

In their eyes this M.O PROTECTS the Community. But it sure does not SERVE it very well.

Bottom line: It does not reflect the friendliness of the town surrounding them and hurts local tourism.

Who cares if he was drinking or not why is that even a part of this story? Why would the cops give him a breathalyzer? His arrest had nothing to do with being drunk.
