Fran had a good record at TCU and showed good results at Alabama. Wonder why he sucked like that when he got here?

His records aren't anything to boast about anywhere. 10-2 was good, but thats about it.

I understand TCU had LT, which is more than enough, but what about Alabama? SEC is certainly better than the Big XII.

Some coaches are good fits for programs and others are not. I'm not sure why Fran is not a good fit here.

For comparison, Ron Zook was not a good fit at UF, but look at what he is doing at Illinois.

He didn't do jack at Alabama. I don't understand why everyone hangs that on him.

I think that he has been coaching scared for a long time now, and it has permanently damaged his ability.

I also agree that he was simply never a fit with us culturally speaking.

Gotta remember...he was only at Bama for two years. The team he took over had begun the previous year ranked number three in the preseason. In other words, there was talent in place, and he did a good job instilling discipline and using the folks that were there.

Fran and his staff are completely out of their element.

It just makes me laugh all the propaganda that fraud got when he arrived to A&M. Anyone that was at school then remember the "Fran is the man" shirts? glad i never bought one since i didnt like him then either, but i woulda burnt it if i had one.

He had 1 good season at Albama. TCU was in the WAC at the time he was there and he had Tomlinson. A monkey could have won at TCU at that time.

The rest of his career was mired in mediocrity.

6th winningest is not bad - just most of it is a diff league - and its evident. I imagine He'd continue to take Trinity Scool of the White Pines to national championships.

He padded his record at New Mexico and used 1 good year to get to TCU and got lucky with LT

It kinda sucks too. If there was a year where we could be a national player, it was this one. All these upsets, and we havent played a teama ranked in the top 25 (as of today). Thanks Dennis, please take Kim and go.

Fran caught a wave. He is very lucky to get this far with his coaching ability.

No joke he got lucky. He has absolutely no game-sense. None. I don't know how he won 10 games @ Bama.

Alabama was stacked and he still made bonehead calls. He had a running back who is on a very short list of all-time elite NFL football players at TCU. The rest of his career is either very mediocre, or at a completely different level. That's it in a nutshell!

Franchione was very fortunate with his ability to comeinto programs at the right time and leave at the right time.

It came together as a perfect storm type scenario He came into the Big 12 when stoops and mac were on the rise.

Then I think he got scared and confused and obviously made some bad hires with assistants.

that's because he didn't have to deal with defense at alabama, he got premiere defensive players, and because the SEC does not consistently produce a lot of points, he didn't have to worry about that side of the ball, here in the big XII it's different, you have to put up a lot more points here to win a game

He's a turn-around specialist, and A&M didn't need a turn-around. We had not hit rock bottom or quit on the previous coach. Without that foundation, he has never been able to effectively manage the team.

I wonder if it just boils down to complacency. Part of me thinks that Fran views A&M as his retirement home. We really should have realized when he got scared at Alabama and wanted out--The pressure was too much for him and he bolted. Any coach that can't handle that type of pressure doesn't need to come to A&M because he probably doesn't want it bad enough to succeed here, either.
