I didn't end up with a bunch of critter pictures. One, it was kind of early, two, I see buffalo and deer around home all the time, so I wasn't that impressed, three, I was ashamed to show my puny little 300mm zoom when every wild animal in Yellowstone brought out 5000mm lens the size of bazookas.

But enjoy, anyway:

Where did you see the grizzly?

Oh thank goodness, I thought you were going to tell me it wasn't a grizzly.

On my phone I did have to open a second window to zoom in.

Looks like a fun trip.

As best as I recall, it was pretty much near where Google Maps puts the place mark for Yellowstone.

All I can recall right now is that it was pretty close to the south end, not terribly far past the entrance gate, and in a meadow at a relatively low elevation.

We were alerted to it by cars parked on both sides of the highway, and more long-lensed cameras out than you'd see at a Super Bowl.

He was there both days we used that gate in the morning, and one of the days, we passed a ranger headed the other way, toward where we'd seen the bear. I assume he was going to make people get back in their cars.

And it was fun, thanks. Keep watching, I've got about 9 more sets of photos I plan to use to annoy people on the board.

I am pissed that you saw a grizzly... I wanted to see a bear so bad, but never did

Canyon, do you mind if I add some of my pics from last September of wildlife?

You want to see grizzlies go to Glacier and then look up past the treeline on mountains. They're up there pigging out on moths under the rocks.

Spreadsheet, go ahead. The more, the better. Any recommendations about places to see or stay welcome as well.

Entering into the park (noticed there is a discreet "aTm" mark near his aft side:

Near the first geysers we saw:

On the boardwalk near Old Faithful:

Random field near the West Thumb:

This little fella ran right in front of our car on a back road:

I had the same reaction on my winter trip to the park some years back.
