I don't like players who lay down. I understand that QB's have to protect themselves when they aren't getting protection, but JJ is an athletic guy who doesn't need to fall when a defender is within three yards. Whether it's on a busted play in the backfield, or a scramble for yards down-field when the receivers are covered, I've seen Jerrod give up without a contest too many times. He is one of our best athletes, but he's not making himself into one of our best play-makers. Aggie fans, despite all of the challenges, will respect a player (especially one who happens to lead this team) who lowers his pads and fights for the extra yards. I think this parlays itself into another issue that is huge for this team and its fan base - leadership. Despite everything else, this team and this fan base will support this young man to the end if he will just provide the inspiration and show a little grit in his character. I know he is a great young man...and a very smart person. I don't question his effort and desire. I just want him to show the toughness we need out of a team leader. He can lead by example and use his ability to inspire the playmakers around him. Play with attitude, JJ...that's all we ask. It'll make your performance better, inspire your fan base and lead your team to victory when it's close...
