Multiple articles from ESPN and MLB.com about it. The attribution was a then Giants out here who heard the comment from the manager. Perry definitely hit his first major league HR the same day as the moon landing, shortly after Apollo 11 touched down. Only real question is whether the manager made the comment.

Larry Yount, the older brother of HoFer Robin Yount, was injured warming for a relief appearance in what would have MLB debut in a 4-2 Astros loss to the Braves in September '71. He never make it back to the Show.
