Looks like the last roster spot has opened up
quote:Best of luck to Fitz. Seemed like a fine young man with tons of potential talent. Worked hard to come back from that knee injury.

Would've loved to see him stay and develop.
quote:I know. I just think for all the handwringing about APR, that it is funny that BK has a revolving door roster losing at least 2 (sometimes 3 players) every year.
If they transfer in good academic standing I don't think it hurts us.

I think Billy Kennedy has had an entire roster transfer in four years.
quote:Other than House, our scoring was pretty terrible last year, so the writing shouldn't have been on the wall. Minutes should be completely up for grabs because once again we couldn't frickin score unless House was carrying the O.quote:Best of luck to Fitz. Unfortunately, with House and Hogg on the roster next season, the writing was on the wall for this one.
I'm expecting at least one more (Johns seems most likely), and then the staff will probably add another guard (JUCO or transfer) from a handful of prospects that they are currently looking at.
quote:I don't think "most" have 2-3 transfers every year.
Most high major teams have 2-3 transfers per year.

quote:They tried Fitzgerald in some different roles and he couldn't get comfortable, plus House was playing so well it was hard to get minutes. He seems most comfortable at the small forward spot out on the wing, but next season you have House, Hogg, and also they are hoping to play Jalen Jones more in that role (word is Jones will be working hard on some aspects of his game over the summer to play more time at SF), while guys like Trocha, Miller, and Elijah Thomas are possibilities at PF, with some Jalen Jones in that role as well.quote:Other than House, our scoring was pretty terrible last year, so the writing shouldn't have been on the wall. Kennedy really isn't interested in developing players. He just wants to bring in new guys.
quote:Because it shows the APR argument for him is BS. It was used time and time again to defend his crappy roster management. The fact is, BK is a crappy roster manager and it has been demonstrated through out his career. His coaching technique is to basically keep turning over a the roster until he gets one that he cannot screw up through his coaching.
But if it doesn't hurt APR why even bring it up? Hate him all you want for his coaching but it's a fact that he greatly improved the APR
numbers here.
quote:Yep.
APR is a red herring.
quote:
Its a shame that we lose him. And more of a shame that no one really developed him more than they did.

Has Mr. APR had more players graduate or transfer at this point?

seems like a pretty good sign house is coming back.
quote:The only way APR affected Kennedy is that he wasn't able to run off a significant portion of the roster and fill it up with "his guys" right away. Other than that, APR was NOT a problem. We never lost scholarships, weren't put on probation, weren't banned from post-season play, didn't lose television coverage, or whatever else you can think of. It did nothing to our program but keep Kennedy from going after "Kennedy players." And considering the rate that guys he's brought in stay for a year and then transfer, I'm not convinced that Kennedy knows what a "Kennedy player" is either.quote:quote:Yep.

Not really, but you keep on believing it. Either way, I want a coach who keeps us out of APR trouble AND wins. Haven't had one of those for a while.
quote:
Which one of the incoming fish would you give up to keep him? Word is he didn't show what he needed to in practice to get the PT, and he didn't perform well in most games he got in. Wish it would have been different because I thought he was going to be a significant player before he got hurt.

BTW, Logan is saying there are a number of schools who have already contacted A&M showing interest in Fitzgerald. Logan seems to feel that he'll end up at a mid-major.
Most everyone seem really high on Fitz's raw talent including Logan, and say that in an open gym setting without much structure the guy often looked like one of the best players on the team. Just really struggled when got into actual games.
Seems like there is a good chance that a couple of years from now, if it 'clicks' for Fitz, we might very well see him tearing it up at some mid-major school. I hope so. Really like him and he seemed like a fine young man.
