Good, then maybe they'll make a much better hire.
What makes you think any decent coach will take the job ??? Probably not going to happen while you are still trapped in the BDF.

Look I get it, "t.u. is stuck in the dumpster fire conference, you guys suck, you'd be lucky to get Fran to come out of retirement to even coach your lousy team in your lousy conference.", I mean that is a great narrative on TexAgs, in reality that is just not true.

You mean the reality that your broke ass school can't even afford to fire chuckles much less hire a decent coach, or do you mean the alternative reality that your piece of **** network try's to portray?

They have a fallback if Chuck shats the bed again. Augie is on the payroll for two more years. He could just come in as the Zen Master and let coordinators handle the football part.

Oh, what a surprise! It's the Texas Longhorns vs. the Oklahoma Sooners from 10/11/1997.

Now go back and get your f-ing shinebox.

tu can get more wins, just because the competition is diminished.

Is Baylol going to be any good? They are going to regress

Sept. 13, 1997, was among the most embarrassing days in the storied history of University of Texas football, the date when a winless UCLA team came to Austin and did everything except grill Bevo steaks in the parking lot after the game.
"We had a quarterback, Marty Cherry, who had spent all summer modeling for Polo," former Texas wide receiver Wane McGarity recalls. "He took a beating that day and never played in a game again.
"They beat him back into modeling. That's what UCLA did; they turned us all into models."

I should have been somewhere else. I heard Moncrief took his wife's lipstick and wrote on the glass in front of his private box, "Box for rent - cheap". I also sat through some similar OU beat downs. I was a slow learner.

Amazing how in the tank the refs were for the tsips.

And thank god for review and instant replay.

Doc - instant replay isn't foolproof. See Vince's lateral in first half of the NC game. That was reviewed and determined okay.

I was talking more of the UCLA catch right before the sips fumbled in the 3rd quarter. Guy dragged his foot and caught it.

Refs called it out of bounds.

I agree it isn't foolproof, but a bit better than relying on some sip homers claiming it wasn't a catch when the game is out of reach.

Keith Jackson was interviewed by Jim Rome on Rome's radio show the week following the game. Rome was going on and on about how he had never seen a player take over a game of that magnitude like VY did in that game.

Jackson couldn't stop talking about how frustrated he was that the replay officials evidently didn't have the same camera angles that he could see on the big screen because Young's knee was clearly down. He thought it jaded the contest by allowing such a glaring mistake on a scoring play.
LonghornDub
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Doc - More egregious ones involved the ultimate outcome of the games, like one against Rice and one against North Texas. OTOH, OU clearly outbid us couple of times for the refs.

The worst officiated game I have ever seen was tu v. Baylor. It was Grant Teaff's last game and the refs completely screwed. I mean it was not even close. You know those close plays where you can make a split second decision and later say "well I did not have the benefit of replay". Nothing like that. The refs did not even lube up the sips. Just put it to them.

Help this Bama grad out, please.

If Saban, Mora,Shaw, both Harbaughs, Kelly, Meyer, et al weren't coming when the perception was Texas had money, what make you think any one with a brain would come to Texas after the Perrin report came out and you're still in the worst P5 conference for academics and football? You're going to have to pay off yet another coach and the staff and still have to resolve paying off how many former coaches?

I am not talking about losing Dub. Those things happen. But getting robbed on national television is quite another. If was raining its butt off that day but that is no matter. The refs completely screwed the sips that day. It was wretched....but beautiful.

Her monthlies - Unlike your banjo pickin' school, UT is not dependent on alumni meth sales to collect contributions when they need them. When UT has a serious money problem, the rest of the NCAA will be gone. Go on back in the woods now and squeal like a pig.

ce - Probably a freak confluence of Baptist refs. Crap happens, but over the 60 years I've watched UT football it has seemed to me we've gotten more than our fair share of the ref calls, and I consider that right and proper.

That game was glorious. The Hubs and I were hanging out by the pool at the house in Austin, listening on the radio and occasionally venturing inside to watch a replay or two. The announcers on TV literally said "Anyone wearing powder blue eyeshadow in the stands could suit up and play and the horns couldn't stop them," because UCLA was emptying its bench sending in players while the starters hung out the second half.

What was the best part of all was the call in show after that game. The butthurt sip tears were delicious. We were rolling listening to it.
On TV they were circling people walking out and saying "this guy is going to go cut the grass... this one over here has to wash the car..." just to fill time because the exodus was more interesting than the actual game.

How is that more wins. Sips lucked into beating Baylor's WR at QB last year. Beating Baylor is just treading water.
