He bought TSM at $99.

How about a combo approach?

1/2 in VTI or SPY, 1/4 in a stock picked by you, and 1/4 in a stock picked by him/her?

This way, it will be an educational process as well, and fun to see which approach works the best over time!

Thanks, did the index funds last year.

FYI - got her 4 shares of INVD. Went with the leader. Mine in my Roth has yield me a 12x.
