United Airlines problem

Looking for a little advice.

Originally had a trip scheduled for 12/26/15. When I got to the airport I was going to miss my connector flight because of weather and they put me on another flight to get "close" to my destination. That flight was also eventually cancelled because of weather. Called united they said we could use those flights within a year.

Fast forward to 2 weeks ago I rescheduled a trip with those tickets and they charged me $200 change fee ($800 total). Call back and they tell me I should have not incurred the fee as it was a bad weather waiver and I need to apply for a refund through the website. Today I recieve notice that my request was declined. United says that them changing my flight to get "close" to my original destination counted as my one time use waiver and that I will have to pay the $200 change fees. (Find it hilarious that there is no phone # for refunds just forms and email replies)

Any advise.

Just call them back again. They are a massive company and sometimes it takes multiple calls to get the right person to get what you want.

Also, be kind and calm. It's not usually the fault of the people you're speaking with...sometimes their hands are tied but they will be much more willing to go the extra mile for you if you are nice and patient with them.

I've consistently had luck emailing the "customer care" account on their website. Lay out the issue and history clearly and clearly state your dissstisfaction and expectations.

Just call again.

I had a travel voucher that expired a couple days before I tried to use it. I called once and someone said sorry. Called again and they booked my flight for me so they could manually apply it.

Never fly United or American. I am constantly floored by how terribly they treat their customers. Even cable companies treat their customers better.

Calling United is like playing the Lottery. Nine times our of ten you will get someone who does not claim English as their first language.

Sending an email to customer service will sometime get a response but don't bet the farm on it.

They have $600 of mine and with the $200 per person ticket change rip off, I have $200 remaining. If the person on the other end of the line could have spoken English, I would have told her give the money to a charity.

I miss Continental.

I literally just had the same problem. Keep pressing and eventually the fee will get waived. Do you have status through their mileage program? It helps.

I am one damn angry Mama with United Airlines over my daughters flight last year. So much inept, lack of compassion, or anyone that cares. I wish the company would go under. Greedy rat basterds. They cancelled my daughters flight after 6 hours of her getting on/off the plane 4 differet times. No flipping communication. Got her on a flight the next day with a connecting flight and they didn't have an escort for her. We got a $150 credit that is worthless. They raised their age of unaccompanied minors to 15 so it could me anouther $300 plus the cost of the ticket. Cheaper with Southwest amd they get you there on time.

Wrote customer service on Monday and still waiting for a response. Don't expect anything to come of it at this point.

What really pisses me off is that yes I can get people on the phone that agree I should have not paid a service fee but those people can't do anything for me as all refunds have to come through the refund department so I'm pretty much SOL.

I think it might be a better experience and have more compassion if the damn call center wasn't located in a foreign country. Might sound terrible but really don't care at this point.

Final update on this. I finally got a call back from my customer service form complaint. I had a call from an "Unknown Number" which left a voicemail asking for extra information via email and I obliged.

About 30 min later I was notified that my refund was being issued.
