Texas A&M adds Philadelphia cornerback Tyreek Chappell to 2021 class
Texas A&M added another big piece to their 2021 recruiting class Saturday evening as Philadelphia (PA) cornerback Tyreek Chappell gave his verbal commitment to Jimbo Fisher and Company. The 6-0, 180-pound cover man chose the Aggies over finalists Pitt, West Virginia, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Michigan.
On tape, Chappell’s speed jumps off the screen. He’d qualify as an “easy” runner. Chappell is outstanding at breaking on the football and changing direction. Loose hips make for smooth transitions in coverage. He plays with good leverage and pad level. He stays down in his breaks and shows great short-area quickness and burst. He also flashes playmaking ability at wide receiver. You can view his junior tape below.
Overall, Chappell’s addition brings the A&M class total to 11 in 2021. He’s also the 2nd member of TJ Rushing’s and Mike Elko’s secondary haul in the cycle.
In addition to his finalists, Chappell also held offers from Penn State, Miami, Baylor, Arizona State and many others.
