None of those should be targeting
The targeting rule sucks and should be abolished. That would solve 100% of the controversy and (would help to) un-pussify modern football.

If the SEC isn't going to protect our players and Saban is going to attaboy his guys for that then the next time we play Bama we should absolutely head hunt every ****ing play. ****'em. Make the refs kick our whole team out of the game.
It's either a huge deal or its not a big deal. Either way what school you get your scholarship from shouldn't determine if you should be subjected those hits or not.

I agree throw a couple of 2nd and 3rd string guys in to just absolutely concuss Alabama's QB, even after the whistle blows. Take the penalty and do it again
Agreed. Make that **** obvious. Either enforce the rules equally or dump the damb rule
It should be a penalty if you lead with the crown of your helmet like a battering ram. It should not be a penalty for incidental helmet to helmet contact.

tu no-call was worse than Bama no-call. By rule, yes the Speedy hit was helmet to helmet, but if I was the ref I wouldn't have thrown the flag either. Great hit and a good football play IMO.

True, if you took out or disregarded the verbiage about crown of the helmet. The Bama player hit Speedy with the crown of his helmet. It was obvious in live action, at least worthy of a review (which didn't happen). If reviewed, then it would have been clear that it was targeting.BTKAG97 said:

All are Personal Foul Helmet to Helmet hits, except the last one where it is Targeting.

Helmet to helmet is legal if you lead with the face mask on a non-defenseless player.
All the words boil down simply to this

Can't hit with the crown of the helmet to any part of the body, defenseless or not. (This happened to Speedy)

Can't hit a defenseless player in the head with any part of the body.
The goal should be to protect players, so IMO defenseless should be removed from part 2

The key word there is "forcible contact" which entails leaving your feet, launching, etc. A routine hit where you make helmet to helmet contact without leading with the crown is legal. The ncaa spokesperson cleared it up last month.

This targeting call was another ridiculous call this year. PSU linebacker going for int and incidental contact on Mich. What if he would have intercepted the pass???
