and a big shout out and kudos to the staff of TexAgs for putting on such an amazing event over the weekend.
Words cannot describe how appreciative, and grateful, we are for the kindness and generosity extended to the friends and family of Homer Jacobs, especially with regards to supporting Homer's scholarship endowment efforts. We can't possibly thank you all enough.
In particular, we cannot thank Gabe and company enough for helping to ensure Homer's legacy lives on. The day started with Homer's scholarship funds being short of the magic mark needed to ensure the Homer and Laurie Jacobs scholarship would hit endowed status. After the event, I don't think there's any doubt TexAgs generosity helped reach that goal.
Homer took great pride in his journalism degree from Texas A&M. He was proud class of '87. He would be both honored, and humbled, to know that a student will benefit from his scholarship every year. Over the years he would go out of his way to help aspiring journalists, especially Battalion journalists. As a senior, he was the former sports editor of the Batt during his undergraduate days. He loved the print media - he's one of the few that refused to get online editions of anything if he could have the printed copy in hand. He was very proud of the fact that 12th Man magazine remained a printed product.
Homer was simply "the best of the best." They'll never be another doctor, and now thanks to the help of TexAgs, the zoo, and many generous Fightin' Texas Aggies everywhere, his legacy will live on forever for that, we will be eternally grateful.
Keep up the great work TexAgs!
Signed,
the lifelong friends of Homer Jacobs
