Because we all know that eventually the major conferences will consolidate, the SEC should be on the front end of the transition. There is a good chance that we could move to four major conferences, each with an automatic bid for the inevitable 8-team playoff selection. So here is what I propose:
SEC adds Clemson and North Carolina and forms the following four divisions based on mascots:
The Tigers Division
Auburn
Clemson
LSU
Missouri
The Dogs Divison
Georgia
Mississippi State
Tennessee
Texas A&M
The Game Divison
Arkansas
Florida
Kentucky
South Carolina
The WTF Divison
Alabama
North Carolina
Ole Miss
Vanderbilt
Each team plays against its division members and one other division each year, which gives you seven league games. The eighth game will be played the week before the SEC Championship, and will be a match up of teams across divisions based on division ranking by record and head to head (#1 Tigers plays #1 Game, #1 Dogs plays #1 WTF, #2 Tiger vs #2 Game, etc).
The SEC Championship will be the two #1 teams who win the week before.
This will obviously be stacked so that Alabama has an easy path to the SEC Championship each year, but let's all admit that this is the desire of the SEC anyway. Also, I like the idea of us playing Tennessee and Ms State each year.
*****TLDR -- I get really bored when the Ags don't play on Saturdays.*****
