I was minding my own business by the MSC before the game, eating a slovacek on a stick, and guess who I see next to me? Phil Bennett, that traitor of a man, actually came to our game. He of course wasn't wearing his ring or wearing maroon. I was so disgusted by the sight of him that I couldn't even finish my sausage on a stick. True story. Oh and his ankles were covered up by Dickies but I assume they were terrible. No subway in sight either.

Reading comprehension, my friend, try it out. I understand that numerous Ags were opposed to our move to the SEC for this same reason. But as I said in my post, Bennett stated his opinion (not simply that he disapproved of the move, but basically calling us a scared little *****) to the media at a time when we were fighting a media war with the BDF members. He knew exactly what he was saying, and he knew it would be used as ammo by the BDF members against us.

I would gladly buy Bennett a beer and say howdy. I believe deep inside he is an Aggie and loves being one. He is a football coach. They need to work. They go where the jobs are. And assuming they like their job they will do things to defend their employer.

We fired him, and he gets a paycheck from someone else. I really don't expect him to be loyal to us when his paycheck comes from someone else. If he had agreed with A&M leaving the Big 12, he would have been admitting that he worked in a conference of losers. He probably would have gotten fired for that. And then what was he supposed to do?

Something short of being disappointed in A&M and saying we were running scared would have been sufficient. He's a deekkhead and was a lousy DC for us. I did enjoy watching his D take it up the ass in their bowl game last year.

I saw Phil at a whiskey bar in downtown Houston a few weeks before the season started. I was with a group of Ags and he noticed us and started chatting us up. I asked him about A&M moving to the SEC and whether or not he ever wanted to coach for A&M again. He basically said, "why would I ever want to coach for A&M? I currently make a few hundred thousand more a year than Snyder."

All-in-all he seemed ok, but still sounds like he has a grudge against us. Might have been a little full of himself, but all things considered, that's probably to be expected.

Was he scouting us for the playoffs????

Bingo. This is all I'm saying. I get that he couldn't come out in complete support of our move because of his position, but he went the extra mile to be negative towards us...if anyone is/was sounding pathetic and butthurt it was Bennett back then with that statement. If that's the route he wanted to take, fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But you can't have it both ways...talk **** about about your former employer then expect to be welcomed back.
