Stay on Memorial to Texas Avenue tomorrow. METRO is tearing out a 2-lane X 3-lane section of the Rusk/Bagby intersection again. Rusk is down to one lane between the Hobby Center and Bagby.
METRO's contractor really screwed up the panel jobs. Apparently there were some grade problems. The section by the garage entrance next to the federal courthouse was poured THREE times. If they don't have any more rain delays like they did today, it might be ready for traffic by Thursday.
METRO contractor has been toiling away at that 1/4 mile stretch for almost 2 years.
If I didn't know any better it looks like the contractor was given truckload of cash, no deadline and told spend all this $ (but use these subs of course).
Train tracks in the hood got laid down a lighting speed. They only seem to to run into trouble right in front of the federal building.
METRO contractor was out there again this morning during rush hour tearing out new concrete that was poured no more than two months ago. Had traffic down to one lane and backed up down Memorial and Houston Ave. What a massive waste of taxpayer money. Downtown is gonna be gridlocked in all directions once they start running that new line.
The City's inability (or refusal) to sync lights coupled with TWO trains...what could go wrong? Over/Under on number of train-on-train collisions in the first year?
