I've cut the cord. Flat out tired of poor service from, and excessive of costs of, satellite TV providers. I'm thrilled with my Netflix and Hulu subscriptions, now I just want the local stations. I've tried installing a couple of different antennas outside and despite being 25 ft. in the air, I can't even get all the local stations. That's just wrong. So, I need someone with experience installing these things. I live a couple miles south of Wellborn.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Type in your address and it will give you distances and directions to the OTA transmitting towers. CBS is in a different direction than the other stations, if I remember correctly.

Went down that path. Tried with two different antennas. Back in the day you there were people who put up antennas for us rural folk. Wanting to find someone who can do it. The DIY route isn't working for me, either because I have the wrong equipment, or it's not high enough.

Does anyone know someone who does antenna work?

You can call these guys if you don't have any luck locally. They will answer questions and can make recommendations if you are willing to talk to them. They also have a wealth of information on their website.

Here is more info about the attic install...

All antennas are not equal. Height helps and size helps. I put one of the big ones in my attic in my old house and could pick up Houston and Austin stations at night from College Station. You should be able to get FOX, CBS and PBS fairly easily. The ABC channel has a really weak signal.

Here is another web site that helps with where the local antennas are located. You have to have your antenna pointed in the right direction to receive them.

Also don't forget that if you have an older TV then you will need the box for it and a newer TV will have to be in TV mode for the channels to work.

No problem. One other thing to remember is that being near a window helps if you have a weaker antenna (the smaller indoor type). Try putting the antenna closer to the window and then run the wire back to your TV.

We went with a $300 attic antenna setup from Dennys and are very happy. Sling tv plus sports pack costs less than $30 per month which is a huge improvement over $120 per month from Suddenlink. So, go ahead and cut the cord.

Indoor antenna isn't an option. our entire house is covered in Techshield plywood, not just the roof. Cell signals can't even get in (using a microcell for that). Good news is that our electricity bills are low!
