After the strongest solar storm in 20 years; It looks like the chance of seeing the northern lights is going to extend much farther south tonight.
The way I interpret that is "we ain"t seeing *****"cr06gis said:

Man I might drive to Oklahoma to see these things. Wish I knew the probability of seeing them and how far I would need to go.

A guy on Fox Weather just said it will be a multi-day bombardment with it possibly being cumulative on equipment. This could get ****ed up.Dufflepud said:
ARE WE ABOUT TO EXPERIENCE A NEW CARRINGTON EVENT? AR3664 is indeed a 'Carrington-class' sunspot, but the CMEs it hurled toward Earth over the past few days are not as potent as the monster CME of Sept. 1, 1859. NOAA says we might experience a severe geomagnetic storm when the CMEs arrive this weekend. If geomagnetic storms were hurricanes, 'severe' would be category 4. The Carrington Event was category 5 or greater. So this is no Carrington Event. Even so, category 4 is pretty intense.
