This will be my first handgun. Purpose is home security. Planning to purchase 9mm. Leaning toward Springfield for dual safety or Glock for simplicity. Any recos?

I am a huge 226 fan so I vote for sig. glock would ve my second choice

I was deciding between Springfield and Glock for my first handgun. I picked up the Glock and my fat fingers didnt fit in the grooves. Went with the Springfield. No ragrats on the purchase.

I would go with Sig and if you want striker fired the P320. Just never been a fan of Glock

All 3 manufacturers make great guns now though so you can't go wrong.

I like the XD line. But honestly the 3 you gave are all different enough...shoot them all and it'll be obvious which one you want.

They're all good but I'd go for a Glock 17 or 19.

For home defense a shotgun is probably best. If you are wanting to LTC then out of those 3 I would go Sig. May also consider a HK P30sk or shield if wanting to carry.

All three are great choices. You'll be well-served and happy if you walk into a gun store and purchase the one that fits you best. You'll potentially be happiest if you find a place that lets you shoot all 3 first, though.

I haven't shot the Springfield but know they're solid weapons. I've shot plenty of Glocks and just don't care for how they feel when shooting. I personally love the Sigs.

Glock is easiest to use.

I am partial to the Sig 226 or 229.

Springfield XD is like the Glock.

I have both the Glock 19 and Sig P 320. I really like the 320 and will probably lean more that way but they are both good pistols and it's hard to split hairs between them.

Sig of the 3 hands down. Then Glock, they're great.

Springfield's in a Lower tier despite their similar price tag. By far, and without a doubt the most overrated gun maker.

I'm not a Glock fan, but agree with this comment. Everyone needs to own a Glock once and then find what they like. Eventually you will own a Glock, Sig, M&P and HK.

I have a Glock 17. The good is that it has never jammed, probably put 1000 rounds through it. The bad is that its not as accurate as I would like.

My other pistol is a Rock Island 1911 and is head and shoulders more accurate.

Go to a range that has all 3 for rent. Fire rounds through all of them and see which one is most comfortable for you. That is the best way to decide.

G19 was my first and the correct answer is Sig P226 with Mecgar 18rd flush mags.

Or 229/m11a1 if you want compact size.

But in reality if you pick one of the three you listed, you have made a fine choice. Get out and practice

I mean no offense by this, but that is probably on the shooter and not on the gun. I think most of us shoot some guns better than others. That could be due to grip, trigger, sights or any number of things. I'm better with my 17 than I am with any of my other handguns (including my G34 that's supposed to be a competition gun). That isn't because it's a more accurate gun. It's just because that's the one I shoot the best.

Another vote to try them all out.

My FIL has several different Glocks (not sure exact models). I can't shoot any of them worth a crap, and always figured I just suck at shooting handguns.

Turns out the Glocks I've shot just don't fit my hand well. The first time I picked up a XD subcompact, it felt like it had been custom made for me. And I can shoot it really well.
