This actually looks legit. No sh*tty digital photography - it looks/feels like the other movies - and they brought everyone back. Great cast, big action, and man, when that theme hits... hell yeah. I'm all in.

I'm in too. I'm cautiously optimistic.

I liked seeing Rosewood and Taggart in the trailer -- along with Paul Reiser.

Kevin Bacon will be a nice add with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

You kid, but Damon Wayans would be an awesome addition. (Assuming you mean the guy who gave Axel the bananas and not the stiff cop who'd been hanging out with his white partner too long.)

Are they not allowed to say Foley or something? Why did they repeatedly say axel f instead of axel Foley?

"Axel F" is the official title of the main original theme by Harold Faltermeyer. So the title, at least, is just playing off that.

Do they ever call him "Axel F" in the original movie as well? I can't remember.

I dont think they did call him that and that isnwhy i mentioned it. It seemed way out of place, but they acted like they just picked up from where they left off. I may be wrong, but it didn't sound right.

No they don't call him Axel F in the original.

Just Axel and Acquel.

And I'll believe Murphy isn't just picking up a paycheck when I see it.

The trailer was missing just one crucial ingredient...the Foley laugh, had they spliced that into the end it would have been:

If it sucks, the headline "Axel WTF" will be on every blog from here to Hollywood and back again.

The instrumental came out at a rare time when songs without words could occasionally make it to #1 on the Top 40. In a four-year stretch, that happened 3 times with Vangelis' Chariots of Fire theme, which I played on clarinet in the elementary school band;; Axel F by Harold Faltermeyer, and then the Miami Vice Theme by Jan Hammer in 1985.

It's only happened once since then with Harlem Shake in 2013.

What about that St. Elmo's Fire theme? Wasn't that in that era?
(Sorry - didn't make #1, but was still hugely popular on air)

Apologies for a quick derail, has anyone seen Eddie Murphys Christmas movie on Prime? Any good?

I'm fairly certain it would have been pretty big news if the DDOJSIOC passed away.

Yeah based on Wikipedia it to to #15.

The actual song St. Elmo's Fire (Man In Motion) did hit #1.

Really hope that it's good. Trailer was fine, but Murphy wasn't very convincing that he was channeling Axel Foley.

It was that character that carried those movies... here's hoping Eddie's still got it.

They called him Axel, Foley, and Axel Foley, in the first two (didn't see the third).

The first two are Gen X/80's classics IMO. Can't wait for this.

"Axel F" is a specific reference to the instrumental theme for all three movies.

People don't realize just what a mega star Eddie Murphy was then. Beverly Hills Cop, 48 hrs (my personal favorite), Trading Places, Coming to America, Raw. He could do no wrong. No one bigger. This looks like it may be a glimpse into early Murphy. At least I hope so.

It was ok at best. Not the classic I think he was hoping for.

The Christmas movie came to mind when I saw this statement above.
