I think part of the reason why I think it's so bad is my age. I was 17 when it came out and probably thought I was to cool for a movie like Space Jam. I don't even think I saw it for the first time until I was in college.
The only reason I saw this movie in the theater was because the trailer for the Star Wars Special Editions was attached.
Best line of the movie comes when Bill Murray claims Jordan won't let him play basketball with him because he's white and Jordan says that he lets Larry Bird play and he's white; Murray's response? "Larry's not white, he's clear."
quote:I, too, had a disappointing re-watch when I was older
This is also how I ended up feeling watching it again not too long ago..... I enjoyed it when I was younger, but nostalgia made it seem better in my mind.
It's Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan. On the same team. Playing basketball. Against malicious space invaders. Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan.
Do you have no soul?
A five year old should be able to recognize that Space Jam was a shameless money grab.
And if the Monstars ever demanded a rematch with the Jordan-Bunny-Bird (Tweety, not Larry) collaboration of pwnage I would pay money again to have that game beamed directly into my visual cortex.
If I hit em high hit em high hit em high
And you hit em low hit em low hit em low...
Hopefully Anthony Davis gets some love! He already looks/plays like a Monstar. Also, just saw Trainwreck and think Amare Stodemire could bring some laughs.
And we are off! Justin Lin is directing! Lebron is starring! Lebron isn't a surprise, but Justin Lin can make a fun movie, so I'm pretty pumped! Now, let's get some casting going!
