I carry a knife with me on hikes, because I'm out a lot where there are sometimes mountain lions. Coyotes, too, but I'm not as concerned there.
What are you guys concerned about that has you carrying these things on a daily basis?

A pocket knife is a tool not a weapon. I carry a .40 for predators of the 2 and 4 legged varieties.
I'm kind of at a loss as to what to say to that pic

Carried a Leatherman for years. Currently carrying a Sidekick the kids gave me for Christmas.
Dad gave this one to me when I was 12 or 13. I still carry it most days.

I honestly can't remember the last time I had the need to cut something open at work.
Off the top off my head, in the last few weeks I've done the following things with my knife: tightened a screw in my desk, unjammed a printer, fixed the top cover of a cubical wall.
I'm sure other things too.
Had this one for about 15 years, I never leave home without it.
I think it's really odd when people don't carry a pocket knife. That includes chicks.
