Are the whales in the Trinidad area in June?
We have plans there in early June and then heading north to Crater Lake region. Any recommendations for things to see in between?
How about best things in/near Bend, OR?
Just saw this…
Not sure about the whales in Trinidad. I know we've seen them at that time of year further north in Brookings, OR, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were some there then.
I mentioned it previously, but Howland Hill road is worth the drive. There are also some really cool swimming holes on the smith river just past Hiouchi that would be fun stops. Our go-to is Panther Flat.
I'm not sure where you're staying between Crater Lake and Trinidad, but I'd suggest Ashland. Lots of cool bars and restaurants and having a beer at Skout while looking at Mt Ashland and the Siskyous is pretty great.
The natural bridge and rogue river gorge are good spots to stretch your legs on the way to Crater lake.
Marionberry Pie at Beckie's on the way to Crater Lake is a good stop.
On the way to Bend from Crater Lake is the World's largest Ponderosa Pine at LaPine State Park. It's not as big as the Redwoods you'd have just seen, but it is really cool since it's right on the river.
Lots of cool **** in Bend, depending on what you're into. Our favorite beer bar is Crosscut Warming Hut No 5.
