Can any of you recommend a hematologist? BDUB is being told she needs to see one.

We're starting to get very concerned.

Kelty Baker got good recommendations from a doc I used for something else about 15 years ago. I think she ended up reviewing my blood work but I never met with her.

She was on 12th floor of Scurlock Tower across Fannin from Methodist back then. Not sure if that's where she still is.

My wife goes to Dr. Muffaddal Morkas in Memorial City, but she has said he doesn't have the best bedside manner.

At least giving you another name to look into. Not sure if I'd call it a recommendation.

Susan Escudier with Texas oncology. She does hematology and came highly recommended to myself as well.

Kelty Baker treats my wife's leukemia (she's currently in remission). Cannot say enough good things about her. She's still in Skurlock Tower in the Med Center.

I saw Kelly Baker when pregnant… I have a Factor V Leiden Mutation.

I'll add that Kelty Baker used to be in a clinic/office with an oncologist so she's got experience and contacts in that world if needed.

I was referred to Dr. Kleinbaum for blood work when I had a DVT a couple of years ago. He was highly recommended by my vein specialist and was very thorough/professional.

Public service announcement -- if anyone in your family has ever suffered a blood clot, or if you are a woman on birth control pills -- get screened for Factor V Leiden.

It's a simple blood test that can save your life.

I'm not a doctor, but I would recommend that anyone having surgery should be screened, especially if you will be immobilized for awhile.

My grandmother had many strokes so my doctor tested me. Thankfully, I have only one mutated gene.
