From TexAgs Sponsor, The Scott Burgess Freedom Festival:

"Did it occur to you on April 4, 2011 that an American Soldier was laying down his life for you? I would hope not a day goes by that we don't think of our American Soldiers." With those poignant words, Reverend Jimmy Burgess brought closure to SSG Scott Burgess' funeral.

It was in that solemn moment that the spark of inspiration ignited the formation of the Scott Burgess Memorial Foundation. Scott's deep love for his country, and his unwavering passion for the red, white, and blue served as the foundation's guiding light.

The Scott Burgess Memorial Foundation stands as a testament to honor and remember not only Scott's individual sacrifice but also the countless other American soldiers who have selflessly laid down their lives for our nation.

As a 501c3 organization, our mission is clear: to honor and uplift the legacy of not only Scott but all of these brave men and women. The funds we raise are dedicated to assisting graduating seniors in our local communities, ensuring that their dreams and aspirations are honored in the spirit of service and sacrifice.

Let's delve into the excitement surrounding the Scott Burgess Freedom Festival. This festival has become a beacon of celebration and community gathering, embodying the spirit of freedom and unity. Whether you've attended before or are considering it for the first time, we hope you can join us this year at the Franklin City Park on June 1, 2024.

We are eagerly awaiting this year's festivities. Our festival's vibrant atmosphere serves a diverse range of activities including a kids zone, car show, food trucks, vendors, 5k, kids fun run, crawfish cook-off, corn hole tournament, and our most anticipated event - LIVE MUSIC performances featuring Aaron Watson! Also joining us this year is The Teague Brothers and Payton Howie, and Platinum Player Zydeco band.

Beyond the entertainment and fun, the Scott Burgess Freedom Festival often embodies important values of community, patriotism, and freedom. It isn't just an event, it is the heartbeat of our community. It's a reminder of the strength we find in unity and the power of coming together to celebrate the freedoms we hold dear.

We started in 2012 as just a small 5k, with a total of about 30 runners. Each year we grew a little bit more and in 2018, we launched our first downtown festival with just a few vendors and one bounce house. We outgrew our downtown square and moved to our city park which gives us 28 acres of space for all of the fun. Now, in 2024 we expect our biggest turnout yet and can't wait to see everyone.
