That Signet can be very polarizing for Glenmorangie purists, it's a very interesting pour in a good way!

I'm probably going to unload a majority of them. I have only gone through 2 of 10 boxes so far. There is at least that many more that are cracked, plus a lot of bourbon & Canadian.

I'm mostly into bourbon and just don't have the room. I'm probably pushing 1000 bottles already in my collections and don't need to go down another rabbit hole.
I am the poster AginSingapore was referring to looking for a Balvenie 17 year. If you end up unloading it I would be very interested. It is no doubt my favorite pour of any whiskey variety.

Went to Austin for the New Riff pickup and grabbed an Ardbeg Hypernova and a Laphroaig 10 year sherry oak finished, pleased with those two. Had he had more of the Laphroaig I'd have gotten three. Good pricing for a non big box retailer. Had some hitters in the special cabinet that I'll keep in mind for the next visit.

Beta I'll take that Caol Ila and Laphroaig to help out, I'm in no rush, down in Houston, can give you greenbacks in person or venmo. Think I may have met your son at the new riff pick-up at OLC (was a whirlwind of folks so could be mistaken). I'll be in CS for George Strait, have a house up there, happy to wait till then to get em to make it easy on you.

2024's Ardbeg Day 'Spectacular' is available via Total Wine Concierge. This is the lower proof general release and not the committee release. If memory serves, last year the committee release was also available from TW Concierge but at a later date, but not 100% certain.

First I've heard of the Concierge program. Signed up and ordered a bottle of the Offerman edition. I have the Charred Oak version and like it quite well.

It's not too often they drop single malts on the concierge program, mostly wine offers, but when they do they're usually pretty interesting . I ordered 2 of the Offerman Lagavulin and two of the Ardbegs.

Any tried the Calypso? Saw it at total wine and thought the pineapple chili and chocolate combo sounded interesting. Love the 14 and the distiller's edition.

I have not but have a buddy who has a bottle and he says he plans on opening it when he gets back from some travel he's doing. Will try to get some tasting notes from him for you.

Also, Ardbeg announced they are releasing a 23 year old Y2K bottling which as best I can tell is from their first distillation of 2000. Probably going to sell for around $600 to $800 if I had to guess (unfortunately).

I had the oban Calypso this year. It was ok it didn't taste that different from the 14 but my palette isn't that defined for subtle notes

Thanks for that- I was balking at the $100+ price point, but will stick with 14 for about $30 less!

Picked my Offerman Rum Cask Finished bottles up last night from TW and cracked one when I got home just to give it a whirl. I don't want to comment yet because I want to hear what everyone else that tries it thinks about it.

I picked up my Lagavulin Offerman 11 this week from the Total Wine Concierge program. Funny, I also found one at a nearby Spec's on the same day.

The wife and I did a comparison tasting of the O-man 11 year Charred Oak (CO), this new 11 year Caribbean Rum Cask (CRC), and the Balvenie 14 Caribbean Rum Cask. Wanted to compare the two 11 year Lagavulins, and the two rum casks, although as you'd expect, the Balvenie and Lagavulin are very different.

The Lag CO was more smokey and peaty, as expected.
The Lag CRC was less smokey, not really sweet, but the rum cask seemed to neutralize the smokiness a bit. It didn't seem to add much sweetness or rum flavor.
The Bal CRC was comparably pretty sweet. We could notice the sweetness more in this one, without it having the peaty background of the Lags. Not really a rum flavor, just light and sweet.

I couldn't really pick one I like more than the others. The wife slightly preferred the new O-man 11 CRC out of the 3 options.

When we were done, I poured us a Lagavulin 16. We both greatly preferred the 16 over all the others :-) But we've been enjoying that one for several years.

I really enjoyed the new Offerman edition, and my wife said I can't drink it without her because she doesn't want me to drink it all by myself. I got the craziest phenol/camphor note on the end, looked at her and said is that ben-gay? At first she was like what are you talking about and then two minutes later she goes dammit, it is. I thought/think it's a great dram, my fave of the 4 releases.

Grabbed a bottle of Aberlour Casg Annamh the other day. Solid pour for $60ish. Not nearly the sherry as something like Abunadh, but plenty for sherry heads. Bottled a touch warm at 48%, and lots of nice berries and spice forward notes with a solid mouthfeel.

I don't know the lineup this year yet but for anyone that has not yet been to the Houston Whiskey Social should check it out. I went to the one two years ago and it was fantastic. Around $120-130 from memory on VIP tickets and they wer pouring several bottles that were close to $1000 that particular year so very easy to try some high end stuff.

I'll be in College Station for the game that weekend but have heard great things about the event from others.

Also, can confirm the earlier mentioned 23 year old Ardbeg is going for 800.

Yes my Father's Day Lagavulin came in early and wife wanted me to try it. I really liked it as well. Like has been said before, not as smoky as last offerman edition. I think it's delicious. Luckily, my wife does not like scotch so this bottle is all mine haha.

Dang it, no I have not, been behaving (somewhat) and forgot about that one. And not posting late hours cause I've been partying, had to buy fuel in Malaysia so working strange hours, only just now poured a dram to relax in the silence before finding the sheets. May just open the forest tomorrow as I took Friday off... bedtime pour is the latest Offerman

ETA holy cow it's been six months since then, time is flying!
