Well I'm about a decade late but I finally got around to watching this one!
Great movie. But I do agree with Fast Fred's take (from another thread on this movie https://texags.com/forums/13/topics/2590261) a little in that some of the teaching stuff was so over the top that it took me out of the movie briefly. Specifically just when Simmons got slappy.
Glad I watched it. Entertaining, great music, great acting, and the climax is really damn good.
