New Name to Know

ATH Jaiden Fields‍, Hutto (TX) – 2027

Tuesday at Texas A&M’s 7-on-7 camp, Fields firmly planted himself on my radar. At 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, he was the go-to playmaker for Eli Reinhart’s Hutto Hippo offense. He ran crisp routes, shook up defenders and quickly adjusted to the ball and made circus catches. Teams routinely tried to double and triple cover him, and he just kept right on producing.

The day took me back to the tape where his playmaking ability once again shined. He has the short-space quickness to turn a short-yardage reception into a big gain and the speed and ability to locate the ball to be a deep threat downfield. He is also known as a strong defender with a reputation for his lockdown ability and ballhawking skills.

As a sophomore in 2024, Fields earned district Newcomer of the Year honors after recording 832 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns for a 14.9 per catch average. He went over 1,000 all-purpose yards and also posted a punt return for a score.

Following Tuesday’s performance, he received an offer from Texas A&M, and the Aggies join a list which also includes Texas State, Baylor, Cal, SMU, Houston, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Texas Tech. Many of those offers come on the defensive side of the ball. This summer, he has visited Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Baylor and SMU, and he plans to visit Oklahoma State.

In addition to football, Fields also competes on the track in the 400m, 200m and the relays, and he is an infielder and outfielder on the baseball team.
