Scouting Texas A&M

Trisha Ford’s Aggies are built on toughness and consistency. In one of the most successful seasons Aggieland has ever seen, Texas A&M excelled in all phases of the game.

Mady Mertens-Imagn Images
An All-SEC first-teamer, Emiley Kennedy has struck out 139 batters in 148.2 innings pitched.

It all starts in the circle with ace Emiley Kennedy. Every year she has been at A&M, she has led the team in innings pitched and wins. Thanks to the help of the Aggie bullpen, the left-hander's innings are down, allowing her to feel more rested ahead of the NCAA Tournament. Grace Sparks has been utilized when needed, and freshmen Sydney Lessentine and Kate Munnerlyn have made strides throughout the year to provide more depth. The only question when it comes to A&M’s pitching staff is the return and impact of Sidne Peters. Out for the majority of the season with an arm injury, Ford told TexAgs Live the Washington transfer’s speed and velocity looked “really good,” and if the Aggies can use her this weekend, they won’t hesitate.

The Maroon & White’s offense has thrived all year long. Scoring 10 runs (or more) 20 times in 2025, A&M’s lineup has it all — slappers, sluggers, base stealers and walkers. Sophomore Mya Perez is on track to record the most RBI by an Aggie in a single season, just five away from surpassing Josie Carter. Senior Koko Wooley resides in the top five in career hits as well as stolen bases, proving to be a speedster on the bases all four years. Freshman KK Dement and transfer Mac Barbara can provide additional power, while Amari Harper and Kennedy Powell find a way to get on base. Simply, A&M’s offense is prolific and finds ways to win ballgames.

#2 Liberty Lady Flames

  • RPI: 26
  • Record: 47-12 (23-3 CUSA)
  • Team average: .332
  • Team ERA: 2.22
  • Fielding percentage: .967
  • Offense: 6.25 runs/game
  • Defense: 2.68 runs/game

Top Pitchers

  • Elena Escobar (22-3, 1.83 ERA, 22 starts)
  • Kaylan Yoder (9-5, 2.56 ERA, 16 starts)

Top Hitters

  • KK Madrey (.406 avg, 27 RBI, 48 SB)
  • Rachel Roupe (.382 avg, 1.344 OPS, 64 RBI, 20 HR)
  • Paige Doerr (.360 avg, .871 OPS, 17 BB)
  • Savannah Woodard (.340 avg, .960 OPS, 42 RBI)

Scouting Liberty

KJ Jugar, Liberty University
A shortstop by trade, Dot Richardson is a two-time gold medal-winning Olympian, helping Team USA top the podium in Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000).

Owning back-to-back Conference USA regular season and tournament titles, Dot Richardson’s Lady Flames are winners. In her 12th year at the helm, Liberty took down four NCAA Tournament teams this year, including No. 15 overall seed Alabama. Historically, the Flames love an upset and have defeated a regional host at least once on four different occasions in the last seven years. In 2024, Liberty was one out away from taking a 2-1 game against No. 11 seed Georgia when a pair of hits from the Bulldogs spoiled their chance of playing in the program’s first-ever super regional.

Richardson’s 2025 squad is one of the best she has had in Lynchburg. The Lady Flames are led by right-handed hurler Elena Escobar, who boasts the 23rd-best ERA in the nation at 1.83. Holding batters to a .201 batting average this season, Escobar limits free bases and forces opponents to rely on hits to be successful. Kaylan Yoder has grown into her role as Liberty’s second reliable arm, only giving up seven long balls in 82 innings.

Offensively, Liberty is strong and athletic. After starting her career in Baton Rouge, KK Madrey has served as a consistent bat and has also made some highlight-reel grabs in center field. Slugger Rachel Roupe is the biggest longball threat in the lineup, as one of 18 DI players to hit over 20 home runs this year. Four additional Lady Flames are hitting over .300. Coming up short of taking down the host a year ago, this is a talented and motivated Liberty team.

#3 Marist Red Foxes

  • RPI: 71
  • Record: 47-7-1 (21-2-1 MAAC)
  • Team average: .345
  • Team ERA: 1.99
  • Fielding percentage: .972
  • Offense: 7.38 runs/game
  • Defense: 2.29 runs/game

Top Pitchers

  • Kiley Myers (22-1, 1.50 ERA, 24 starts)
  • Maddie Pleasants (16-3, 2.20 ERA, 19 starts)

Top Hitters

  • Haley Ahr (.521 avg, 1.357 OPS, 57 RBI)
  • Miah McDonald (.448 avg, 1.520 OPS, 24 HR)
  • Peyton Pusey (.422 avg, 1.099 OPS, 15 SB)
  • Maddie Pleasants (.394 avg, 1.334 OPS, 70 RBI, 22 HR)

Scouting Marist

Marist University
Kiley Myers owns a 1.50 ERA to rank eighth nationally. A&M has faced Nijaree Canady (first, 0.81) and Karlyn Pickens (third, 0.92) this season.

The No. 3 seed in Bryan-College Station possesses the scariest numbers of the group. With a 10-2 run-rule victory over Siena to claim the MAAC Tournament title, Marist is on a 17-game heater heading into its second straight NCAA Tournament. With a program-best 47 wins in the books this season, the Red Foxes’ most notable wins came against Notre Dame, McNeese State and Tarleton State during their non-conference slate.

The nation’s leader in batting average, Kiley Myers, has shone for the Red Foxes. Hitting a ridiculous .521, Myers has 87 hits but only 12 for extra bases. Ahr is one of four in Marist’s lineup with an OPS well over 1.000, including a pair of lethal sluggers. Miah McDonald and two-way player Maddie Pleasants have both clubbed 24 and 22 bombs, respectively. This is the same offense that run-ruled 33 percent of MAAC competition during the regular season.

Sitting eighth in the country in ERA, lefty Kiley Myers is having an outstanding year in Poughkeepsie, NY. Pitching 16 complete games, the All-MAAC first teamer is used to going the distance. Additionally, Pleasants, the MAAC Pitcher of the Year, is great at scoring runs and limiting them. The two-way player’s contributions have helped Marist carry a winning streak into Aggieland.

#4 Saint Francis Red Flash

  • RPI: 203
  • Record: 26-24 (14-7 NEC)
  • Team average: .280
  • Team ERA: 4.52
  • Fielding percentage: .947
  • Offense: 4.98 runs/game
  • Defense: 5.58 runs/game

Top Pitchers

  • Allie Braly (15-11, 2.41 ERA, 25 starts)
  • Olivia Kolowitz (4-9, 7.54 ERA, 16 starts)

Top Hitters

  • Savannah Nash (.423 avg, 1.231 OPS, 13 HR)
  • Olivia Ulam (.347 avg, .965 OPS, 34 RBI)
  • Hannah Bendle (.328 avg, .927 OPS, 27 RBI)
  • Addie Smith (.275 avg, .748 OPS, 26 RBI)

Scouting Saint Francis

Saint Francis Athletic
Despiting winning its seventh NEC title since 2017, Saint Francis softball is in its final year at the Division I level as the Red Flash will transition to D-III in 2026.

Just finishing above .500, Saint Francis punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a shutout of LIU in the Northeast Conference Tournament championship. Facing the tourney’s top seed, the Red Flash will have to prepare for a significant jump in the level of competition. The No. 4 seed shared two opponents with A&M this year in South Carolina and Virginia, losing 7-0 to the Gamecocks and 12-0 to the Cavaliers in five innings, whereas A&M beat both.

At the plate, Saint Francis only has one true home run hitter in Savannah Nash. The outfielder leads the team in almost every category, including batting average, homers, OPS, at-bats, hits, RBI and stolen bases. Perhaps the Red Flash’s most complete weapon, their offense runs through the NEC Player of the Year. Behind the lead-off hitter, Hannah Bendle and Olivia Ulam get on base at a high clip as well. As a whole, the offense has shown it can drive up the score against its in-conference foes, but that remains to be seen against a high-quality opponent like A&M.

Allie Braly highlights the Red Flash’s pitching staff as the most reliable arm in the circle. The sophomore has started in 25 games this year and played in over 40 during her career. In her second season with the Red Flash, Olivia Kolowitz carries an inflated ERA of 7.54 into the postseason contest vs. A&M.
