• I think winning a national championship gives coaches a credential and respect. Deservedly so. It helps in recruiting. As far as putting you in the top tier of coaches, I believe football is a show-me game and you’re only as good as your last performance. Just because you won a national championship 10 years ago doesn’t mean much because the game changes so much in 10 years. You have to evolve as a coach.
