2022 Argyle defensive tackle Jadon Scarlett commits to Texas A&M
The defensive line has been a strong point since Jimbo Fisher and Mike Elko arrived in College Station, and today the Aggies added another important piece to the puzzle as Argyle defensive tackle Jadon Scarlett announced his college choice.
The 6-foot-2, 265-pound defender is a rare blend of power, speed and agility. He projects as an athletic three-technique, but he also has the versatility and athleticism to play multiple positions along the defensive front. His quick first step is overwhelming, and the power he generates through his hips and with his punch is just as lethal. The combination along with his refined technique has made him one of the state’s top defenders.
His decision comes following June official visits to Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Missouri and an early July announcement that he had narrowed his list to those three schools.
Texas A&M has been among his top schools since offering in July of 2020. In April of 2021, he took his first visit to Texas A&M for the Maroon and White game and returned in June for his official visit.
He chose the Aggies over offers from the likes of LSU, Oklahoma, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Baylor, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, Penn State, TCU and Utah.
He becomes Texas A&M’s 12th commitment of the 2022 class and he joins Katy’s Malick Sylla in the defensive line class. Defensive line coaches Terry Price and Elijah Robinson led Texas A&M’s recruiting efforts.
As a sophomore in 2019, Scarlett recorded 108 tackles, 25 TFLs and 15 sacks on his way to first-team all-state honors at Flower Mound Coram Deo. As a junior, he recorded 62 tackles (42 solos, 20 assists), 6.5 sacks, 20 TFLs, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in six games at Coram Deo, and he was named first-team all-state for the second straight season. He will play his senior season at Argyle.
