Aggies land Tennessee grad transfer offensive lineman Jahmir Johnson

Jimbo Fisher and Josh Henson have been on an incredible recruiting run along the offensive line. While all of their damage so far has been done in the prep ranks, today they added a key piece to the 2021 season puzzle with the addition of grad transfer OL Jahmir Johnson‍, who played last season at Tennessee.

Johnson, a 6-5, 305-pounder, entered the transfer portal not long after the Volunteers finished up their season and parted ways with Jeremy Pruitt. A native of Philadelphia (PA), Jahmir started his collegiate career at the University of Rhode Island before transferring to Arizona Western CC after a season. From there, he went to Tennessee and started all 11 games at left guard as a redshirt sophomore. He battled injuries his junior season but still managed to make six appearances, including one start. Last year, he played in seven games and made five starts at left tackle. One of those starts was against Texas A&M in the Vols’ season finale.

Johnson is taking advantage of the NCAA granting players a free year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will play as a sixth-year senior next season in College Station. His addition gives the Aggies a much-needed veteran presence at tackle as his experience will be good for an offensive line group losing so many long-time starters.
