2023 Wylie East defensive end Anthony James commits to Texas A&M

Since receiving his Texas A&M offer last February, Wyile (TX) East 2023 defensive end Anthony James‍ has had a high interest in the Aggies. Now the interest has turned into a commitment.

At 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, James’ length and frame are quick to draw attention. Then there is his explosion. During the summer of 2020, he recorded electronic 4.65 shuttle and 4.69 40-yard-dash times at the Elite Underclassmen Camp. The combination of length, athleticism and potential is a rare and elite blend.

James received his Texas A&M scholarship on February 20, 2020, and defensive line coach Elijah Robinson has been leading the Aggies’ recruiting efforts.

James becomes the first commitment of Texas A&M’s 2023 class, and he is the earliest commitment to start a class since Jimbo Fisher arrived in College Station.

In addition to Texas A&M, James also held offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Texas, Utah and Virginia Tech.

In his interview he stated he's known for a while he wanted to go to A&M. He has a strong bond with 2 of the coaches. He likes the way they did his recruiting and has been in contact with them since his recruiting started.

Jimbo and his staff are top shelf

His game tape is very impressive. I will take a highly talented gamer over a workout warrior 7 days a week!

We are talking about a 16-17 year old that easily dominates everybody. Doesn't mean he won't work his ass off when he gets some competition.

Jimbo ain't taking reaches for 2023 right now.

Heard the same thing. I hope the kid pans out I'm just surprised with how early it is for a kid that isn't an %100 can't miss type player. The tape is awesome, but without work ethic, I might have waited but who knows, that's why "in Jimbo we trust" right.

This might be true, but I'm tired of seeing Ohio State coming in with early offers and getting top tier Texas players. Got to fight fire with fire extinguishers!

Bryce Foster was offered by Auburn and Georgia after the 8th grade. Sometimes physical talent just can't be denied or ignored, even at an early age. There is no guarantee that James will ultimately play for the Ags, but I would rather have his commitment than not at this point.
