Texas A&M lands commitment from Westlake Village (CA) DT Victory Vaka

Texas A&M just keeps rolling along on the recruiting front. On Monday they added their first defensive tackle commitment to the class of 2021 as Westlake Village (CA) standout Victory Vaka‍ gave his verbal pledge to Jimbo Fisher and Company. 

Widely considered one of the best defensive line prospects on the entire West Coast, Vaka chose the Aggies over offers from major programs across America. Ultimately, he narrowed down his choices to A&M, Michigan, Oregon, Florida and Florida State before picking the Maroon & White. 

At 6-4, 320 pounds, Vaka is a stout kid whose shear strength pops off the screen when watching his tape. His ability to shed blockers means he’s a consistently disruptive force at the line of scrimmage. He plays with advanced leverage and technique for a high school defensive tackle. He’s a true interior guy that’s built to plug gaps and be a problem for opposing ground games. You can view his junior tape below.

Overall, this is the Aggies’ seventh commitment of the 2021 class and the third in the last week, joining Brooklyn (NY) DE Jahzion Harris‍ and Charlotte (NC) LB Kaci Seegars‍.

Great pick up! Westlake is a great high school, ranked high academically, and in a tough football conference. The fact that we picked up a recruit in Westlake Village is a great sign. Another school, just down the road, Oaks Christian, is a perennial top 10 nationally ranked football school. The fact that we are recruiting this area is awesome!

Wonder how much the recent NFL draft affected this young man's decision? The SEC was clearly dominant, which demonstrated a high probability path to the League.

Whoop!
I was in the room here one day... watchin' the Mexican channel on TV. I don't know nothin' about Pele. I'm watchin' what this guy can do with a ball and his feet. Next thing I know, he jumps in the air and flips into a somersault and kicks the ball in - upside down and backwards... the dang (sc) goalie never knew what the hell hit him. Pele gets excited and he rips off his jersey and starts running around the stadium waving it around his head. Everybody's screaming in Spanish. I'

Am listening to Gabe and Olin, so I had to come here to find out the proper spelling of the young man's name.

It sounds awfully like "Victory Vodka" on the radio.

Not even getting double teamed. Must be a real stud next to him as well. Love to see those huge DT's, where 2 of them draw 3 OL, and shut down running up the middle. When this kid gets strong, he's gonna be a nightmare. I didn't know CA had kids built like that.

Cali and Utah have a fairly significant amount of Samoans/Polynesians and they churn out a lot of really big, strong kids. Lots of OL and DL. Maybe we should be hitting that area a little harder. Super happy he chose us and WELCOME, Mr Vaka, to the family
