Key notes from Recruiting Country

  • I think the biggest thing going is the response to the Maroon & White Day on Saturday. I think a lot of people really responded well to Jimbo's film study from the Texas Bowl, and Terry Price's cooking show. Everyone knows TP can coach, now you get to see his personality as well. His resume is as good as it gets as a coach.

  • A&M continues to make top schools lists for kids across the country. Kendrick Blackshire‍ (pictured above) comes to mind there. I don't think people are freaking out about recruiting, Jimbo has earned that trust. But, it would be cool to see a commitment because it has been a while.

  • I feel like with COVID-19, everyone is in a wait-and-see-mode. I think the coaches are okay with that as well; Now, once the recruiting calendar is settled, I bet you start seeing some more movement as more things get solidified, and the coaches can make a good plan.

  • Confidence meter for guys from Howell's Three Things from last week... I feel good about all of those guys that Howell mentioned, but I think Landon Jackson‍ will be the toughest pull for the Aggies. I think if none of this ever happened, Deuce Harmon‍ and Reuben Fatheree‍ would already be committed and in the class.

  • Dametrious Crownover‍ is an interesting one because he's so dynamic. If you take him, it's because he is so big and such a great athlete. He can do so many different things for you on the football field.

  • I think A&M is in a good place for Landen King‍, but Alabama and LSU are pushing him hard. I think if the Aggies got a commitment from him right now, it wouldn't necessarily move the needle. It reminds me a lot of Jalen Wydermeyer in that aspect. He has some significant ties to Texas A&M. I think he could also be a kid who could help you recruit.

  • I think the Aggies are closer with Marcus Burris‍ than they are on Landon Jackson, personally.

  • For LJ Johnson Jr‍, I think it's going to come down to A&M and LSU. When you look at the history of what A&M has done with one-cut running backs, that has to help. LJ Johnson is a Cam Akers type of back to me, and he fits great in Jimbo's system.

  • I think A&M is going to take three at receiver, and Shadrach Banks‍ is one. They will be careful with the other two.

  • Texas produces the best recruits, Florida, would be second. Then I think California and Georgia are battling for the third spot.
