In the second-round matchup of the Orlando Invitational, Texas A&M (3-3) suffered its second loss in as many days, this time to the Owls of Temple (5-1), 65-42.

As has been the story all season, the outcome of this game was determined by too many A&M turnovers and poor shooting from the field by the maroon and white.

Josh Nebo led the Aggies with 12 points and six rebounds.

Temple had three players in double-figure scoring, led by Quinton Rose with 19, and three players who grabbed seven rebounds to lead the game (Rose, Forrester, Mooreman).

Although the Aggies were the first to put points on the scoreboard, made baskets came few and far between. Heading into the intermission, Buzz and company found themselves down 32-18 after shooting just 21% from the field.

On the other hand, Temple started the game shooting 0-6 from the 3-point line but closed out the first 20 minutes on a 17-5 scoring run including making five of its last nine shots behind the arc.

Texas A&M began the second half on a scoring spree of its own with a 14-6 run in the first eight minutes of play. The drive was led by back-to-back 3-point baskets from Savion Flagg with the momentum continuing to build with made baskets from Mark French and Quenten Jackson along the perimeter. And establishing a presence in the paint behind Josh Nebo.

However, the Aggies‘ scoring run came to an end and Temple responded with an 11-0 scoring run of its own.

The Ags were never able to recover after Temple’s first run in the second half and dropped their second game in a row.

A&M will now play for fifth place, Sunday at 9:30 am against the loser between Fairfield and Davidson.
