Key notes from Rob Childress interview

• We had a great week. We were good in a lot of different areas That’s going to do a lot for our confidence moving forward. We have to play with a chip on our shoulder. There is an understanding that if we can play with a chip on our shoulder with the talent we have, we are going to win a lot of games.
   
• When your star player gets rolling every player feeds off that. That’s what happened with Braden Shewmake this weekend. He had a great series and our entire team benefited from it.
   
• In the Friday night game, I thought Doxakis chased the count early. Overall, our pitching was really good. Any time you can start a weekend off with a win in a road series is huge for your team’s confidence.
   
• Bryce Blaum had four hits and was on base five times. Mikey Hoehner was excellent hitting as well. Our hitters came up big for us against Kentucky and that is what allowed us to sweep the series.
   
• These SEC wins are hard to get. You have to celebrate each one. It was great to finish off the weekend strong on Sunday by hanging 17 on Kentucky. Especially with what happened last time we matched up with them.
   
• We don’t yet know if Christian Roa is dealing with anything health related. He didn’t bounce back from the week before, so we decided to go a different direction out of the bullpen.
   
• We play Lamar tonight at home and then have a series this weekend against Missouri that will also be at home. Lamar has been on the road a lot lately, so this environment will be nothing new to them. Dustin Saenz will start tonight. I want to get some solid innings out of him. If we combine that with continuing to excel offensively, we will put ourselves in position to win.
