Aggie hoops adds Huntsville, Alabama forward Kobe Brown to 2019 class

Texas A&M basketball has received another commitment today as Kobe Brown‍, a 2019 forward from Hunstville, Alabama made the decision to play for Billy Kennedy and the Aggies.

Brown, a 6'7", 220-pounder was recruited by Auburn, West Virginia, Minnesota, Missouri, Ole Miss and the likes. He's rated as a top five recruit in the state of Alabama because of his versatility and size on the perimeter.

The program has announced the addition of Brown on twitter, so it appears he is signed and sealed.

A former guard and ball handler, Brown has the skill set to grab a rebound and push it up the court in transition. He won't do this as much at the collegiate level, but having the ability gives him an advantage over bigger defenders.

As a junior at Lee high school Kobe averaged 21.1 ppg, 7.1 rpg and 3 bpg. He is a versatile player, much like Savion Flagg, who will have no problem growing and developing his game throughout college.

There are two big aspects Brown will have to improve on: his physique and his shooting. Like all incoming freshmen, he'll have to spend some time in the weight room to prepare to battle against juniors and seniors in college. He has a good frame to build on, and it shouldn't take much time for strength coach Darby Rich to help prepare him.

Brown is a decent shooter, but at the next level he will need to be much more consistent. His form and rhythm are good, but being more consistent will greatly enhance his game.

Brown fits into the current roster as a guy who can play on the wing and as a stretch four. One of the criticisms of Brown's game is that he isn't considered to be a top end athlete. He's an athletic forward, but not a freak athlete that screams NBA Lottery pick. His drive to be better combined with the Texas A&M strength and conditioning program and nutrition plan should have Kobe right where he needs to be by the start of next season.

With Kobe Brown now being added to Sahvir Wheeler at point guard, Chris Harris as a scoring guard and Tyreek Smith at power forward, Billy Kennedy and company are looking to close out with another post player in this class.
