• When we recruited Mike, he was a strong safety for us. You could tell from day one, Mike had a football intellect that was really unusual. You knew he would be successful if he went into the coaching world. He not only understood at a very early age the safety position, he understood what everybody else did.

• He was an athlete that did a lot of things. He couldn’t throw ball well enough, and I think he owns that, so we put him on defense.
