When Jimbo Fisher landed in College Station, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M tight end Jace Sternberger (6-4, 245 pounds) quickly became a target. He promptly scheduled an official visit, and once he arrived in College Station, he knew he'd found his new home.

New assistant coach Dameyune Craig led the Aggies’ recruiting efforts, and Sternberger chose Texas A&M out of a final three which also included Boise State and Nebraska.

He was also being recruited by Louisville and NC State, and his only other official visit was to Boise State in mid-November.

As a sophomore at NEO in 2017, he recorded 21 receptions for 336 yards and 6 TDs, and college programs started to show interest.

Sternberger has two years to play two seasons, and he is a December grad. He originally signed with Kansas out of Kingfisher, Okla. He redshirted as a true freshman and played in 10 games for the Jayhawks in 2016 before he transferred to NEO.
