Texas A&M played Florida close in all three sets but was ultimately swept by the No. 3 Gators on Wednesday night at Reed Arena, 18-25, 22-25, 20-25.

Kiara McGee led the Aggies with 12 kills and nine digs, Camille Conner recorded a match-high 23 assists and Hollann Hans pitched in eight kills and six digs.

“We played spotty,” A&M head coach Laurie Corbelli said after the match. “I thought there were some runs of good system attacks that I thought we were going to get a rhythm off of, but we weren’t able to sustain the runs of high quality that sometimes doesn’t stick with us. It’s fleeting to see the quality that we see every day in practice.”

The Aggies, who entered the game on a four-match losing streak, played Florida close in the beginning of the first set. After Corbelli called a timeout with A&M trailing 10-4, the Aggies scored four straight points to close the gap to two.

The teams traded points until it was 14-12, but then the Gators grabbed the momentum and closed the set out with six of the final eight points.

A&M matched Florida point-for-point in the second set as well. The Aggies tied the score at 22 late in the set, but the Gators scored the final three points after a timeout to grab a 2-0 advantage in the match.

The third set stayed close as well for the most part, but the Aggies could not get over the hump and extend any kind of lead

“I feel like we fought but in spurts — it came and went,” McGee said. “Against a team like Florida the little things start to add up quickly so you can’t take a play off or forget any assignments.”

The third set stayed close as well for the most part, but the Aggies could not get over the hump and extend any kind of lead. There were three ties and a lead change, but Florida came out on top to finish the sweep.

Senior Gabby Litwin notched a career-high 14 digs and played a solid game defensively for the Aggies.

“I thought Gabby Litwin played a phenomenal match with her serve-receive and her defense,” Corbelli said.

The Aggies return to Reed Arena for Senior Day on Sunday, November 19, for a match against South Carolina. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be televised on SEC Network +.

“We’ve got three matches left that we feel really good about,” Corbelli said. “Sunday on Senior Day we’re going to have a team we haven’t seen yet all season. This will be a brand new opponent to really do our thing against, so I’m really excited for that match.”
