Billy Kennedy and the Aggies received their first signee of the 2018 class today as Antwann Jones signed his NLI. The Orlando Sentinel first reported Monday night that Jones would sign with A&M.

Jones, a 6-6 shooting guard from Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Florida, visited College Station the weekend of November 3rd and left campus knowing Aggieland is the place he wants to continue his basketball career.

A top-100 nationally-ranked recruit, Jones is considered one of the top two shooting guard prospects in the state of Florida. Antwann is a strong perimeter player that can score in a number of different ways. At 210 pounds, his athleticism and size play to his most reliable strength, which is getting to the basket and finishing at the rim. He’s a decent shooter from long range and a good defender but will have to continue to develop and improve those skill sets.

Jones originally committed to Oklahoma State, but two weeks after his decision to play for the Cowboys, the OSU assistant who was Jones’ primary recruiter was fired after the school learned the FBI was investigating him for fraud and corruption.

Before committing to Oklahoma State, Jones was recruited by a handful of suitors including the likes of South Carolina, TCU, Texas A&M and Wake Forest but narrowed his final list to four schools: Kansas, Memphis, North Carolina State and Oklahoma State.

After Jones re-opened his recruitment, Billy Kennedy and company made the most of their second chance and now have a good addition to start the class of 2018.
